When you arrive in Bonchurch you will drive up a pretty lane opposite the pond and park your car outside the Cottage. Come in through the front door and you will be welcomed into the sitting room by the word ‘HOME’, which is how we hope Grange Cottage will feel during your holiday.
The Cottage sleeps a maximum of eight people in four bedrooms, over the top two floors of the house. On the first floor there is a double room, a twin room and a bunk bedded room, and, on the top floor, a further large double room with twin aspect. All beds have luxurious white Egyptian cotton linen; duvets, pillows and bathroom towels are all provided. There are plenty of drawers and hanging space; linen baskets, pastel coloured cushions and throws and carefully chosen artwork all complete the picture.
There are two bathrooms; one with a walk-in shower and the other with a bath and overhead power shower. Both
suites are white with chrome fittings and there is plenty of space to hang towels and unpack washbags.
Downstairs has a shabby-chic feel to it, with wooden floorboards, pale grey walls and woodwork and striped linen blinds at the windows. The sitting room has two inviting leather sofas on which to relax, there is a 26” LCD television, dvd player and micro cd system with ipod dock. There are also board games to play and books that you are welcome to read. WiFi broadband is available with prior agreement. Leading from the sitting room is a light and bright dining room with eight hand-painted chapel chairs around a reclaimed oak table. This is the perfect place to enjoy family breakfasts or for a more grown-up supper.
In the pretty white and grey kitchen, there is a built-in fridge and freezer, an electric fan oven and built-in microwave, ceramic hob and a dishwasher. A kettle, toaster and coffee machine will assist you at breakfast time and there is plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware, plus some non-breakables for little guests too. It is a well-equipped kitchen and you should be able to find everything you need from a garlic press to a lemon squeezer. Off the kitchen is a small utility room which houses a washing machine and tumble dryer and leads through to a downstairs loo. There is also a store room where you will find the iron, a high chair, hoover and other bits and pieces.
A door from the kitchen leads out onto the courtyard garden, where there is a table with benches and chairs for outdoor dining, and an umbrella if the sun gets too hot. A charcoal kettle barbeque is also provided.
To the rear of the Cottage is a 'snifter patch' which you can access from a door on the first floor landing. A bench provides the perfect place to enjoy a gin & tonic whilst catching the last rays of the day. For those guests who don’t fancy the stairs up to the first floor of the Cottage, this door can be accessed up a slope from the front of the property, and is also very useful for unloading and loading luggage.
